If you're waiting on final numbers from the Nov. 3 general election, the wait isn't over. Secretary of State Michael Watson said Wednesday that counties are still processing ballots, and in a statement he said 70 of Mississippi's 82 counties have uploaded unofficial results through the Statewide Election Management System, or .

Mississippi runs elections from the bottom up, so circuit clerks and election commissioners handle them in each county. Until certification is done, Watson said local election officials are the best source for the latest local numbers. Unofficial results could change as ballots are processed.

  • Mail ballots: must arrive within five business days of Election Day
  • Affidavit ballots: unknown number, processed within the 10-day window
  • SEMS uploads: counties aren't required to make them

A judge has paused efforts to revoke the charter of Canton's SR1 school
