If you missed last year's debut, the National Folk Festival is back in downtown Jackson Fri., Nov. 13, through Sun., Nov. 15. It's the second of three planned weekends, and everything is free except food and merchandise.

Cedric Burnside & Rising Stars Fife & Drum open Friday on the Visit Mississippi Stage. Eddie Cotton Jr., the Mississippi Mass Choir and Rahzel are on the bill too, and the Big Apple Inn is among the food vendors. Organizers say the festival will include more than 300 performers.

  • buses: free Friday and Saturday
  • Road closures: organizers say details are coming soon

Driving? Free parking is at the southwest corner of the Mississippi State Fairgrounds, with a shuttle to the site. We suggest saving the festival map and leaving extra time downtown.
