- ➤ Dozens filled Jackson Academy’s basketball arena on Saturday as local police officers and firefighters played in the Battle of the Badges tournament to honor fallen Deputy Shields who was killed in February during a domestic violence call in Terry—proceeds from the event were donated to a scholarship fund set up by his foundation. - ➤ Families received free school supplies this weekend at New Virden Grove Baptist Church where volunteers handed out notebooks, glue, scissors & folders to help students prepare for the new school year.
