- ➤ Jackson officials are planning a hearing on Jan. 22 to discuss how to improve grocery accessibility in food desert areas — the move comes after the closure of Food Depot on Terry Road and with support from the Mississippi Food Network. - ➤ Community members and allies gathered Thursday at the State Capitol to mark International Migrants Day under the theme All We Want for Christmas, highlighting reflection, storytelling and solidarity for migrants. - ➤ Mississippi State guard Josh Hubbard returned to Children's of Mississippi on Thursday to give back to the hospital where he was treated for Kawasaki disease, spreading holiday cheer to young patients. - ➤ Greenwood LeFlore Hospital and the Division of Medicaid reached an agreement on Thursday that reduced a required payment from $900,000 to $447,000, a move that averted closures and safeguarded payroll in Hinds County.
