  • Residents met Wednesday at the Heritage Building on Capitol Street to share ideas for renovating neighborhoods through improved transit and development. The session featured design sketches and sticky-note feedback for plans including grocery stores, entertainment venues, and a new JSU football stadium (pending review by city leaders).  FOX 40

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gov. Tate Reeves announced a more than $100 million investment to boost economic development, infrastructure, workforce training, tourism & conservation across Mississippi. Grants from several agencies will fund projects including upgrades to West Rankin Industrial Park and the Mississippi River Inland Port Complex.  WAPT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Michael Cormack, who led Project 75 at JPS, resigned on Dec. 8 and will become CEO of KIPP Atlanta Schools on March 16. He improved test scores and graduation rates during his tenure, contributing to lasting academic gains.  Mississippi Today
  • Mississippi’s State Superintendent Dr. Lance Evans said he supports easing restrictions on transferring students between public schools while requiring private schools receiving public funds to take the same tests, and lawmakers will revisit school choice rules in January in Jackson.  FOX 40

  • Experts warn that rising premiums may push 200,000 Mississippians off Marketplace plans — if Congress does not extend enhanced subsidies — and steer them toward short-term plans that offer less coverage and risk high out-of-pocket costs.  Mississippi Today
