- ➤ The Better Business Bureau warns Jackson residents that holiday phone scams are rising as scammers mimic local numbers to steal personal data. BBB CEO John O’Hara advises blocking unknown calls, letting messages go to voicemail, and checking numbers online to avoid falling victim. FOX 40
- ➤ Hundreds gathered at the state Capitol on Wednesday as Buddhist monks advanced on their 110-day—2,300-mile Walk for Peace. The journey began on Oct. 26 and reached its 46th day, with participants expected to continue into early next year. WLBT News

- ➤ Rod Paige, a JSU alumnus and the first Black U.S. education secretary, died Tuesday at his home in Texas at age 92. Jackson officials honored his long career in education and his service to the community. Mississippi Today
- ➤ Former JPS educator Larry Armstrong died Tuesday after serving the district for 27 years in roles that included teaching and administration. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Greater St. James M.B. Church (1301 Jones Ave) in Jackson. WAPT
- ➤ Dr. Rod Paige, a former U.S. Secretary of Education and interim Jackson State University president, died at 92 (born in Monticello and appointed by President Bush in 2001). FOX 40
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Senate study group led by Sen. Nicole Boyd met at the state Capitol Tuesday to review recommendations—aimed at improving legislative funding for health care, child care and nutrition for women, children and families.
