- ➤ A turkey drive is taking place in Jackson today at Concrete Sneaker Boutique on Old Canton Road starting at 3 p.m.—the event is hosted by I See Success Too Learning Center and Bankroll Season Inc. to support families in need during Thanksgiving. WAPT
- ➤ Councilman Brian Grizzell—Jackson City Council board president and Ward 4 representative—hosted his fifth annual sweet potato crop drop at Westside Community Center on Wiggins Road, drawing dozens of people on Sunday. He said the event supports families by providing sweet potatoes as a holiday meal staple and plans to expand it next year. WAPT
- ➤ CareCenter Ministries in downtown Jackson is preparing Thanksgiving food boxes for 500 local families—many affected by the SNAP shutdown—with meals including turkey and fixings for residents at Commonwealth Village, Lincoln Gardens, and Sunset Plaza. - ➤ During the Soul Bowl on November 23rd in Jackson, Capitol Police responded by towing dozens of vehicles — officials said the move restored order amid parking issues. WLBT News

- ➤ Redeemer Church purchased the former Chastain Middle School on Manhattan Road — through its Redeemer Community Development subsidiary to house Redeemer’s School. The property spans more than 21 acres with classrooms, a gymnasium and an auditorium, and a groundbreaking ceremony is planned in mid-December. FOX 40

- ➤ Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson is encouraging local tree shopping this holiday season — nearly 30 Christmas tree farms offer activities like hot chocolate, lights and wagon rides — to support a Genuine Mississippi Christmas and help shoppers find tips, pre-tagging options and locations. - ➤ Work on the Flats at Fondren mixed-use project will begin in January, adding 234 high-end apartments to meet local housing demand. Arlington Properties is building the 228,674 square-foot complex with one bed, two bed and three bed units — two floors in a new 500-space parking garage will serve residents. FOX 40

- ➤ Week 13 of high school football saw Parklane Academy win the MAIS Division II title by beating Heritage Academy 42 to 0 and Centreville Academy claim the MAIS Division I title with a 32 to 20 win over Lee Academy + Ridgeland, Warren Central, Tupelo, Brookhaven and Poplarville also advanced in their playoff matchups for state championships.
