  • Volunteers in Rankin and Madison counties are preparing for National Collection Week—from today through Nov. 24—as part of Operation Christmas Child by Samaritan’s Purse to deliver gift-filled shoeboxes to children affected by war, poverty, and disaster. The program aims to reach 12 million children in 2025 and offers a $10 donation option to track each gift’s delivery.  WAPT
  • Today at Anderson United Methodist Church, day 2 of the Women of Virtue Conference began with uplifting remarks by Dr. Teresa Hairston Jackson—gospel singer Deitrick Haddon performed and attendees joined workshops on prayer and overcoming trauma. Chair Felicia Gavin said the conference empowers women with cooking demonstrations and awards that honor community impact before ending with a worship service on Sunday morning.  FOX 40

  • Federal lawmakers are proposing to ban hemp products by closing a loophole that lets intoxicating hemp be sold; many products may not be available as early as next year.   • Hundreds of community members got up bright and early today at the Two Mississippi Museums for the Metro Jackson Heart Walk to support heart research— the American Heart Association event raised over $315,000 to fund lifesaving research and aid local families.  FOX 40

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jackson State’s backfield trio led the Tigers to a 28-13 win over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday when Ahmad Miller, Donerio Davenport, and Travis Terrell Jr.—each with over 100 rushing yards—helped secure the victory. With the win, the team holds the top spot in the SWAC East Division and now prepares for the Soul Bowl against Alcorn State.  FOX 40
  • High school football Week 12 saw Jackson Academy beat MRA 35-0 to end an eight-year win streak by the Patriots — the win secured a state title game spot against Hartfield Academy. Other schools advanced in the playoffs with decisive wins that kept their championship hopes alive.  FOX 40
