- ➤ Fayette Discount Drugs closed on Oct. 24 after low reimbursements from pharmacy benefit managers forced a shutdown, leaving customers more than 20 miles from a nearby pharmacy—an issue that local independent pharmacies say costs them millions and calls for urgent reform. - ➤ Belhaven University is expanding its STEM research programs with more than $572,600 in grants that have funded projects on nitrosamines and kinases and will give undergraduates new opportunities in research. Dr. Sarah Ariel Kelley received a $75,000 grant to study chemicals formed in reactions and Dr. John Neiswinger got a $20,000 grant to research proteins—an effort that builds the school’s growing STEM offerings. McComb won 68—26 over Greene County, Pass Christian won 52—32 over South Pike, and wins by Forest (18—7), North Delta (21—3), Callaway (26—0) and Forest Hill (32—25) moved their teams to the next rounds.
