  • The Red Beans and BBQ Festival was held on Oct.25 to benefit Stewpot Community Services — local residents gathered to support the organization.  WLBT News
  • Residents report more stray dogs and cats roaming Jackson neighborhoods after the city shelter closed while the Mississippi Animal Rescue League received over 422 stray dogs so far. The City of Jackson will soon announce the mayor’s Animal Welfare Task Force—set to provide next steps to manage the overwhelming stray animal problem.  FOX 40
  • Trixie, a therapy dog at Ridgeland Place Senior Living, earned her certification with Alliance Pet Therapy and brought joy to residents during a celebration held yesterday—owner Barbara Tuccio and executive director Michael Ryan said treats, photos and tail wags honored her contribution to daily life.  WAPT

  • George Malvaney from Jackson said he attended a Klan rally in Tupelo when he was young and later recruited fellow sailors for a small Klan chapter during his Navy service—he became involved in a failed coup in Dominica and later said his time in prison helped him change his views.  FOX 40
  • News cameras entered Jackson’s BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir for the first time during Diwali when families celebrated the Hindu new year with prayer, color and homemade food.   • Two high school bands faced challenges at competitions last weekend.
