SPORTS NEWS

  • Jackson State beat Alabama State 38—34 in a late-game thriller on Saturday as the Tigers, led by quarterback Jacobian Morgan, secured their homecoming win. The team improved to 5—1 and will take a week off before traveling to Las Vegas for the HBCU Classic.  FOX 40
  • High school football games concluded week 7 across Jackson and nearby areas — Jackson Academy won 16-7 over Jackson Prep, Columbia handed McComb its first loss at 38-14, Parklane Academy shut out Brookhaven Academy 35-0, and other teams including Terry Bulldogs, Warren Central, Germantown, Lanier, Wesson and Hartfield Academy recorded key wins. Teams now look ahead to matchups on Oct 16 and beyond as they seek to improve their season records.  FOX 40
