- ➤ Tickets for The Southern Lights holiday show at Trustmark Park in Pearl went on sale Monday and will change the baseball field into a holiday village full of twinkling lights—ice skating, radiant tunnels and cozy fire pits open from November 21 through early January. WAPT
- ➤ A Thousand-Man March took place on Mill Street in Jackson where people gathered in front of the Jackson Nightclub to demand an end to violence and stronger Black leadership. The march ended at the Mississippi Capitol—residents vowed to hold more peace marches until homicides drop to zero. FOX 40
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Public Schools announced a $4.4 million upgrade to its career development center that now features modern labs, classrooms, and training in 23 career pathways — including health science, sports medicine, barbering and cosmetology, and TV production. A Family Night to showcase the renovations will be held on September 30 at 6 p.m. FOX 40

- ➤ Auditor Shad White released a report accusing several Mississippi nonprofits of misusing taxpayer funds by spending on bloated salaries, gift cards and gym memberships — the report noted questionable expenditures at My Brother’s Keeper, 100 Black Men of Jackson and the Juanita Sims Doty Foundation, and the findings will be sent to the Attorney General. - ➤ Bridgette Morgan filed an appeal with the state Supreme Court to challenge her loss to Yemi Kings in the 2024 Hinds County judicial race. Kings won by 2,484 votes to 2,234 in November, and Morgan argued absentee ballots were not processed properly—raising concerns over election procedures. FOX 40
