  • Men, women and children gathered on Mill Street outside 440 Jackson Nightclub as part of the Thousand Man March to call for an end to violence in Jackson—organizers noted homicides dropped from 92 last year to 51 this year and vowed to keep marching until violence is zero, with the march ending at the Mississippi Capitol.  FOX 40

  • Bridgette Morgan filed an appeal with the state Supreme Court Friday after narrowly losing the 2024 Hinds County judicial race to Yemi Kings by 2,484 to 2,234, arguing absentee ballots were not handled per state law—she challenges the lower court's dismissal of her petition.  FOX 40
  • City officials reported that a major leak at the zoological park is one step closer to being fixed after they shut off the valve filling the moat around the chimpanzee exhibit and moved the chimps to a temporary enclosure. Interim Chief Administrative Officer Pieter Teeuwissen said engineers will return next week to review updated repair recommendations—efforts that aim to avoid future high water bills after the leak likely cost millions in fees.  FOX 40
