- ➤ Lawyers for Carly Gregg — a Rankin County teen convicted of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and tampering with evidence over her mother's shooting in March — argue her life without parole sentence is unconstitutional and violates state law, asking for her case to be remanded for a new trial. - ➤ Three 18-year-olds are wanted for capital murder after Reginald Brown was killed over the weekend—Camerious Huff has been arrested while police are looking for Dequavious Ingram, Brian Davis and Grayson Jackson. FOX 40
- ➤ A man was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on the 2400 block of Cornet Place in South Jackson and police are asking anyone with information to call JPD at 601-960-1234 or 601-355-TIPS. FOX 40
- ➤ A man in a white shirt, camouflage pants, and yellow Crocs tried to break into an apartment at Reserve Apartments on Old Canton Road Monday morning—he damaged the door and police are asking for public help to identify him. WAPT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Residents of Jackson are voting to help secure nearly $240,000 from the Levitt Music Series Grant for free live music and for a plan to replace the band shell at Smith Park. Downtown Jackson Partners, led by Liz Brister, said the vote—running through September 15—is key to both this project + plans for a new musical venue. FOX 40
