- ➤ A Jackson woman said her car was shot at while leaving church on Country Club Drive on Sunday afternoon when another vehicle fired as two cars moved around her, and Jackson Police have named 25-year-old Ladavia Scott as the suspect facing charges of drive-by shooting, aggravated assault, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. - ➤ Jackson PD is investigating a suspect who fled on foot after shooting a vehicle owner during an attempted burglary on the 1300 block of Dorgan Street in Jackson—reports state the suspect wore a black shirt, khaki pants, and a COVID-type mask while the victim remains stable after treatment at a local hospital. - ➤ A Jackson Public Schools bus was involved in a crash while a shooting occurred at a JXN night club as authorities investigate both incidents—updates are pending. FOX 40
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The National Folk Festival will take place in downtown Jackson November 7-9 — organizers are calling on local volunteers to help run the event while adding new performers. The free festival is expected to draw 60,000 to 80,000 attendees — multiple stages will showcase different aspects of local culture. Mississippi Free Press
