- ➤ The Jackson Police Department is searching for a suspect who fled on foot from the 1300 block of Dorgan Street after shooting the vehicle owner during an attempted burglary—he wore a black shirt, khaki pants and a COVID mask—and the victim was treated at a local hospital and is in stable condition. - ➤ A shooting outside a home on McDowell Road in Jackson injured four people—two bystanders were hurt by a ricochet bullet and flying concrete—and police have not made any arrests. WLBT News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The former Regency Hotel on Greymont Street is being demolished—an eyesore no more—to serve as a temporary parking lot for State Fairgrounds events. Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson said asbestos treatment will last until mid-September and demolition should finish by year-end. FOX 40
