  • On Friday, Stewpot Community Services delivered boxes— and packing tape—to residents at Blossom Apartments in Jackson as water is set to be shut off soon, and some residents have begun moving out while a judge ordered temporary water restoration.   • Early this morning, a shooting in Jackson left one person dead — two others were injured.  WLBT News
  • A shooting at Club Metro in Jackson early Saturday left one person dead and two injured—police said preliminary reports link the incident to a retaliation for another shooting and that no suspect has been identified, with the investigation ongoing.  WLBT News

  • Owners of Tracewood Apartments at 6300 Old Canton Road filed an injunction in Hinds County Chancery Court—and later in federal court—to stop JXN Water from shutting off water for nonpayment amid disputed billing, with a status conference held Thursday and further documents still pending.  FOX 40

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Friday, the American Cancer Society kicked off the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser to support survivors and raise money amid a 10% federal funding cut—bringing together those affected by the disease. The annual noncompetitive walk will be held on Oct. 25 at Trustmark Park.  FOX 40
