- ➤ A man on trial for the April 2021 nightclub shooting in Jackson was found not guilty today of the murder charge—he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and will be sentenced later. FOX 40
- ➤ Pearl PD and other agencies found two missing children safe in the Cato Circle area after a search that lasted from Saturday evening into early Sunday; both children were taken to a hospital for evaluation where they appeared unharmed. FOX 40
- ➤ Five people were arrested after a shootout occurred on the 4500 block of Redwood Drive on Saturday evening when two groups heading to a private party on Sundew Place exchanged gunfire—one suspect was taken to a hospital and investigators recovered shell casings from vehicles and nearby homes. - ➤ On July 29 at 7:30 p.m., police responded on Hudson Road off Highway 16 West and found 46-year-old John Montgomery with a gunshot wound to the head—his grieving family is urging anyone with information to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers. FOX 40

- ➤ Galloway Elementary School students returned this week in new uniforms donated by United Way of the Capital Area — volunteers collected over 100 uniforms and goodie bags from CarMax, and the school will accept donations all year. FOX 40

- ➤ Interim manager Ted Henifin said at JXN Water's public meeting on Saturday that he will not resign and will finish his work—after talks with Judge Henry Wingate over proposals to raise rates and address a cash shortfall.
