- ➤ A husband fatally shot his estranged wife at the Westwood Apartments when he learned she had a boyfriend and later barricaded himself in the leasing office before surrendering to police — who said he shot her seven times — after a short standoff. FOX 40
- ➤ Authorities are investigating a homicide that occurred early Friday morning at a Shell gas station on Robinson Road—police confirmed a man died from a gunshot wound and his body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. WLBT News

- ➤ Law enforcement in Raymond served a court order for mental health treatment to Richard Barry Lowery — 52 — during an hours-long standoff on Tuesday, and he reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot. Earlier, Lowery visited a TV studio with claims that the government was monitoring him, raising questions about Mississippi’s civil commitment process. FOX 40
- ➤ The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers held a meeting at St. Philip's Episcopal Church on July 31 to present its July draft flood control study for the Pearl River and residents plus officials expressed support and concern over the proposed plans.
