Good morning, Jackson.

Students at Jackson State University explored financial literacy today at the Mississippi Charities Back-to-School Resource Fair by playing a life-sized board game called The Road to Financial Freedom — guided by Chase Bank volunteers — while the fair also offered free backpacks, school supplies, and hands-on culinary and sports activities.

Hundreds of Jackson students received backpacks, school supplies, uniforms and 25 Chromebooks at the annual Back-to-School Giveaway at Jackson Fire Station No. 20 on Medgar Evers Blvd. Jackson Public Schools will resume classes on Wednesday, July 29.

Residents are joining hunting, fishing and wildlife events today across the Jackson metro area — event organizers say the gatherings help locals learn about wildlife and conservation in a fun, outdoor setting.
