  • Residents at Blossom Apartments lost water on Wednesday, July 23 when JXN Water cut service due to over $400,000 in unpaid bills by the property owner—many stored water for basic needs and plan to move amid ongoing issues with repairs and poor management. Some tenants said the lack of water on a hot day and poor communication with management have forced them to seek safer living conditions.  Mississippi Today
  • Kristin Marren delivers free food boxes to families in South Jackson every Tuesday—using food donated from Gleaners volunteers—and she supports over 10 families each week while working with her church since Hurricane Katrina.  WAPT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Early Wednesday morning, a crash on I‑55 North near the Adkins Boulevard exit killed one person—only one vehicle was involved while the Hinds County Coroner, Jackson Police Department and an ambulance responded to the scene.  FOX 40

  • A new history textbook revised by an MSU educator will be used in middle and high schools around the state this fall. Mississippi: Our History, Our Home updates lessons with new details on Emmett Till, revised state symbols, and archaeological finds.  WLBT News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal judge issued eight additional subpoenas on Tuesday to review how Jackson spent $89.9 million from a Siemens settlement—targeting current and former city officials as well as Siemens. The subpoenas require detailed financial and contractual records to be submitted within 30 days—steps that may influence a pending rate increase decision.  FOX 40

HEALTH NEWS

  • Low-income pregnant women in Mississippi will soon have faster Medicaid access for prenatal care as a federal agency approved a state law that lets providers presume eligibility while applications are processed—provider training is scheduled to begin in early August so eligible women can receive 60 days of outpatient care.  Mississippi Today
