- ➤ SeaD Consulting tested shrimp dishes at 44 Jackson restaurants from June 23–26 and found that 30 misrepresented imported shrimp as wild-caught—only 14 served authentic domestic shrimp. - ➤ A federal judge revoked Rudy Warnock’s bond after his conviction on corruption charges and his alleged suicide attempt on Thursday, ordering a full mental health evaluation, up to 60 days of detention pending further assessment, and issuing a warrant for his arrest—Warnock was taken to the hospital following a pickup crash on I-20. - ➤ At around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, ICE agents raided Agave Mexican Bar and Grill in Jackson after a tip-off, handcuffing five employees on duty and arresting eight undocumented immigrants who are being held at Madison County Detention Center — the restaurant is currently closed with no confirmed reopening date. - ➤ Nissan Foundation awarded $40,000 to the Foundation for Mississippi History to support field trips for Title I school children visiting the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum during the upcoming school year. - ➤ Gluckstadt filed an appeal on July 11 against the court ruling that upheld its plan to annex over 4.6 square miles north of Madison, and the case will now be reviewed by the Mississippi Supreme Court. The annexed area includes 4.39 square miles north of Madison and 0.25 square miles west of Highway 463 planned for the Reunion Parkway Expansion Project. FOX 40
- ➤ The Ross Barnett Reservoir Bridge on Route 43 in Goshen Springs will be closed from July 28 to Oct. 1 for construction after inspectors found a large void under the structure. More than 3,500 vehicles use the bridge daily, and drivers must take alternate routes—detours are in place to guide traffic while crews repair the bridge. Mississippi Free Press
