- ➤ Scammers call people claiming to be from the Hinds County Sheriff's Office and warn that a warrant exists as they demand money be wired via a QR code—Jackson Police stress no official group ever makes such a request—and funds sent cannot be recovered. FOX 40
- ➤ Authorities denied bond for 18-year-old Kayne Davis at his initial court hearing for his alleged role in a mass shooting near Lamar and Pearl Streets after St. Paddy’s Parade—where 21-year-old Cortez George was killed—so he will remain at the Hinds County Detention Center until his preliminary hearing. - ➤ On July 11, the Jackson Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant on the 400 block of N. Flag Chapel Road—seizing a significant amount of marijuana, several amounts of OxyContin pills, and a FN Herstal semi-auto handgun as evidence of planned drug distribution in an ongoing investigation.
