Economists warn that stricter vetting and visa uncertainty may drive students away and affect 10,000 undocumented or DACA students who lack in-state tuition. WAPT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Federal investigators have issued a subpoena for detailed financial records tied to Jackson’s $89.8 million settlement with Siemens, ordering city officials, attorneys, and water system managers to provide documents within 30 days. The subpoena seeks bank statements — wire transfers, disbursement logs, and internal communications — to check if any funds from the 2020 settlement were misused or diverted from repairs and debt service. WAPT
- ➤ After CCID boundaries expanded on July 1 to include parts of Northeast Jackson, Capitol Police are still not receiving most 9-1-1 calls directly because calls are routed through Jackson Police.
