- ➤ A water-skiing accident at Ross Barnett Reservoir near Ratliff Ferry Trading Post left a water-skier unable to feel his leg after falling around 3:30 p.m. Sunday and the victim was airlifted—wildlife officers, Reservoir police and Madison County emergency crews are investigating the incident. - ➤ At 3:19 a.m. on Sunday, Capitol Police responded to a call on Wilmington Street in Jackson and found two people with fatal gunshot wounds—both were pronounced dead at the scene and no arrests have been made. FOX 40
- ➤ During the July 4 weekend, four homicides occurred in 48 hours and left Jackson residents on edge as the Jackson Police Department reported 34 homicides in 2025 — many locals see the spike as part of a wider trend affecting cities nationwide. WAPT
