- ➤ Today, a multi-vehicle crash on I-220 near the Watkins Drive exit at about 2 a.m. killed Mikayla Smith of Raymond when she was struck while checking her Kia Sorento and injured her 8-year-old son, and both southbound lanes remain closed as officials investigate the accident. FOX 40

- ➤ Grejuan Allen was arrested Tuesday on Shaw Road for killing LarJarvis Ruffin and had been out on bond for a 2019 murder charge in Michael Woods' death, leaving Woods' family to seek justice as a new trial is scheduled for September. FOX 40
- ➤ Mississippi school superintendents Earl Joe Nelson from Leake County and Mario D. Willis from Hollandale have been indicted on federal charges for conspiracy, theft and bribery for allegedly misusing school funds from November 2021 until June 2023—A consultant is also charged for accepting over $250,000 for services never provided.
