- ➤ A crash between an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck on northbound I-55 near the 61-mile marker in Copiah County (near Hazlehurst) resulted in one truck driver being airlifted to UMMC with unknown injuries while the 18-wheeler driver remained unharmed and the cause is under investigation. WLBT News
- ➤ One person died and others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on I-220 near Watkins Drive around 2 a.m. Monday — both southbound lanes were closed as first responders assessed the scene. FOX 40
- ➤ After a crash on Interstate 55 near the 61-mile marker on Monday, an 18-wheeler collided with a pickup truck and the pickup driver was airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center while the 18-wheeler driver was unharmed and the Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. - ➤ In Pearl, a deputy from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office stopped a white Chevrolet SUV at 1 a.m. on June 22 because the driver swerved—leading to a search that uncovered 20 kilos of suspected cocaine hidden in a man-made compartment—and John Jermaine Norman was arrested for trafficking the drug. - ➤ Richard Gerald Jordan, the state's longest-serving death row inmate, is scheduled for execution tomorrow and has nearly exhausted his legal options as the U.S. Supreme Court denied a petition on Monday and his attorneys filed a challenge over the lethal injection protocol that questions his death sentence under a later ruled unconstitutional law.
