- ➤ A man crashed his vehicle near Interstate 220 and Highway 80 after leading Capitol Police on a chase and then fled into MetroCenter Mall where he was captured, and the 24-year-old suspect David Barber will face charges for felony evasion and multiple drug offenses. FOX 40
- ➤ The Jackson Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed 53-year-old Troy Howard Jr. at the 1000 block of Gentry Street—where officers received a call at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday—and is seeking a suspect described as a black male in all black—last seen walking north on Livingston Avenue. - ➤ Marla Demita said her baby tested positive for methamphetamine after a visit to Little Blessings Daycare in Yazoo City and was treated at Children's of Mississippi following hours of distress — the day care was fined $50 for failing to report the incident and is under investigation amid past abuse complaints. - ➤ Yesterday, Councilman Kenneth Stokes led a motorcade that began at Freedom Corner and went to the Medgar Evers Library to honor Medgar Evers’ legacy, noting he would have turned 100 on July 2. Later today, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said the city will hold an extravaganza at the Jackson Convention Complex with live music, food and fireworks scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. WAPT
