Good morning, Jackson.

In January, Jackson settled a long-running legal fight with Disability Rights Mississippi to update JTRAN standards and end a 14-year court consent decree—new rules limit phone hold times, trip denials, and require on-time pickups.

City officials say the settlement allows them to focus on hiring more bus drivers and boosting overall service.

Army veteran Jeffrey Hulum III, who served 22 years and now represents House District 119, said Memorial Day should honor all who sacrificed even as some contributions are being erased—he warned the day must remain a solemn reminder rather than signal the start of summer.

Mississippi college baseball teams will host NCAA regional games later this week with Ole Miss set to play Murray State Friday night at 7 p.m., Southern Miss scheduled to face Columbia at 6 p.m., and Mississippi State slated to meet Northeastern at 6:30 in Tallahassee.

Coaches must decide whether to start their ace pitchers early or save them for tougher matchups — decisions that will shape their teams' chances in the tournament.

Madison Central baseball won the MHSAA 7A State Championship after winning game one with a score of 11 to 7 and game two when Brandon led a strong effort on May 25.

The team secured the title with both wins completed before today.
