  • Historical 1960s Ku Klux Klan materials, including a mask and charter, are now available at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History research library in downtown Jackson and online.   • Phoebe Bridgers surprised Jackson fans at Duling Hall on May 14 with an intimate pop-up concert, drawing 400 locals who enjoyed an acoustic set of older hits and unreleased songs.   • The federal government proposed a 60-year, $4.5 million plan to help the rare Pearl River map turtle recover by funding research, captive breeding, and river habitat restoration in Mississippi. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews are replacing the decaying Coleman Avenue bridge in Jackson – officials say work began after an emergency declaration last Thanksgiving. They hit a waterline on Tuesday and plan to finish the all-concrete structure in about three weeks.  WLBT News
  • The Mississippi Department of Human Services has set aside $5 million to provide childcare vouchers for about 800 children, leaving over 6,000 families waiting. The agency will review additional funding in October.  Mississippi Today
  • Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker (a nursing advocate) and Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley introduced a bipartisan bill on Tuesday to restore nursing as a professional degree, aiming to expand federal loan limits and ease the financial burden on nursing students.  Mississippi Today
