- ➤ Jackson police confirmed that Jeffrey Bolton was shot to death on Monday in the driveway of a church across from Green Elementary School on Forest Avenue—gunshots were heard at the school and no suspect has been identified. WLBT News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Test results from last week by the Mississippi Department of Education showed that just over half of JPS third graders read on grade level, with nearly all students in north and central schools passing on their first try. At some south Jackson schools, fewer than 40% passed the reading test — prompting educators to warn that struggling students may be retained this fall if they do not improve. Mississippi Today
