Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 19th of May.
Good morning, Jackson.
🏛️ Government
Jackson city councilman Kenneth Stokes said the city should cut mileage—rather than raise taxes—to help cover the new inmate housing fee set by Hinds County, which costs $31.25 for the first 31 days and $38.96 for each day after.
Some local residents said they are willing to pay more for safety, and Stokes will bring the issue to a council meeting soon.
