- ➤ On May 7, a tornado emergency struck central and west Mississippi, damaging hundreds of homes and injuring more than a dozen as residents in Lincoln, Franklin and Lamar counties reported fallen trees + power outages. WAPT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Jackson is asking residents to share ideas on improvements at Jackson Zoo and Livingston Park, following an April 24 press conference where city leaders outlined plans including a new pavilion, lake dredging, and cost-saving changes (reducing unused exhibit space) to make the site a local destination. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Tate Reeves approved Senate Bill 2474 on Apr. 8—creating a Rare Disease Task Force to study gaps in care that force families to travel out of state for treatment. The group will advise state leaders on improving access and reducing travel burdens. Mississippi Free Press
