  • The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority said that Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport will expand flight options this summer—nonstop flights will serve nine cities with over five percent more flights and nearly three percent more seats than in 2024. Carriers including Southwest, Delta, American and United will increase service during the summer peak.  WLBT News

  • Jackson man Kenny Wiggins was found guilty of domestic aggravated assault and illegal firearm possession after he fired his handgun at his girlfriend on August 30 — the Ring camera video provided clear evidence of the attack — and he could face up to 30 years in prison when his sentencing is scheduled.  FOX 40
  • Jackson police arrested 24-year-old Ladarius Moore on Wednesday morning after he allegedly robbed 12 businesses and a judge set his bond at $7.5 million—an action reflecting the charge severity and public safety measures—and the arrest came after teamwork with Capitol police.  WAPT
  • Hinds County Court denied bond to former UMMC police officer Michael McLeod, accused of one murder and six aggravated assaults in connection with a March shooting that left Cortez George dead and others injured near Lamar and Pearl — the court called him a clear and present danger to the community.  FOX 40

  • Federal cuts removed $4.1 million from Mississippi’s community mental health centers, putting programs that help moms with addiction treatment and housing assistance at risk. Health officials warn that without replacement funds, these vital services may soon be cut—leaving vulnerable mothers without needed support.  Mississippi Today
  • Two puppies in Tippah County were quarantined after a bat tested positive for rabies, the Mississippi Board of Animal Health said on Tuesday after being notified by the State Department of Health. The board noted rabies is common in bats and wild animals near Mississippi — pet owners should watch their pets for signs of illness.  FOX 40
