- ➤ Jackson will host the 82nd annual National Folk Festival downtown from November 7-9, a free three-day event + a celebration of blues, bluegrass and go-go music by 300 artists. - ➤ Today, Jackson was selected to join the Southern Cities Economic Initiative and received a $15,000 grant from the National League of Cities through its philanthropic partners—this program will provide technical help and training to boost economic mobility while the planning phase runs until October 31 and may lead to an implementation phase through December 2027. - ➤ An investigation by WAPT’s National Investigative Unit shows that Mississippi’s roads and bridges are in poor shape and cost drivers about $1,400 a year—especially in Jackson, Vicksburg and Hattiesburg.
