- ➤ The NTSB released its preliminary report on the UMMC AirCare 3 helicopter that crashed in Madison County in March—killing the pilot, flight paramedic, and flight nurse—after the flight nurse said they were losing control and making an emergency field landing, while investigators could not test the systems due to fire damage. - ➤ Chauncey Reed pleaded guilty to attempted murder and murder for a 2018 traffic stop on Cooper Road — he tried to shoot Officer Michael Tarrio with an assault rifle while his brother, Elliot, fought the officer and was fatally shot — and was sentenced on Friday to life in prison without parole plus 20 years running concurrently. - ➤ Jackson Police are seeking Onterrio McDougle for a terroristic threat after he pointed a gun with an illegal switch at an officer on March 24 near Robinson Road while traveling in a vehicle—24-year-old Steven Perry was already arrested for the incident. WLBT News
- ➤ A Hinds County Chancery Court judge and Attorney General Lynn Fitch's office warned residents about a diamond ring scam after Judge Tiffany Grove received an unrequested ring in the mail that came in a red box (with a pamphlet and QR code) and later found the QR code led to a phishing website (a known brush scam), prompting officials to advise people to avoid scanning unknown codes and report similar mail. - ➤ The Jackson Police Department is searching for 12-year-old Tryvon James after he left his home on Levellwoods Drive without permission — he is a 150-pound Black boy who is 4′2 and was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and black jeans —. WLBT News

- ➤ MEMA continued storm recovery after overnight storms injured six people and damaged over 80 structures in seven counties. The agency filled requests for 4,000 bottles of water, 500 Meals Ready to Eat, and 250 tarps, opened a shelter at Hudsonville C.M.E Church in Marshall, and the American Red Cross is feeding survivors at Slayden Baptist Church in Lamar as more severe weather is expected Saturday night into Sunday morning. - ➤ Municipal primary elections ended Tuesday with less than a quarter of Jackson’s 114,000 registered voters casting ballots—unofficial results show new mayors in Flowood and Canton. In Jackson, incumbent Chokwe Antar Lumumba trailed Mississippi Senator John Horhn and a runoff is scheduled for April 22—voters will head back to the polls. WAPT
- ➤ Tricia Bosarge, a department of public safety worker, said she was moved to a role with no duties after she refused to hire only white people. She filed a federal complaint and an equal employment claim in December and now seeks the position and damages—officials have yet to comment. WLBT News
- ➤ Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes and a few community members placed a wreath at Freedom Corner on Medgar Evers Boulevard on Friday to mark 57 years since Dr. King was killed on April 4. He said young people must learn our history — noting that many do not know what happened on April 4 — while he honored King's lasting legacy. WAPT
- ➤ Jackson police Chief Joseph Wade swore in five new officers at the Jackson Police Training Academy on St. Charles Street Friday; three had prior JPD experience while two are new to Jackson, bringing the total force to 262.
