- ➤ Touch a Truck Jackson 2025 kicked off in Pearl on March 30th, letting children explore fire trucks, police vehicles and a mobile clinic on wheels from UMMC plus local agencies provided interactive displays to celebrate the event's 12th year organized by the Junior League of Jackson. FOX 40

- ➤ Jackson police are investigating a homicide and aggravated assault on Meadow Lane—around 4:30 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot dead and a 24-year-old man was injured and is now being treated at a local hospital. WAPT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After abstaining from a vote in December 2023, Jackson council members will meet on April 8 to consider a proposal from JXN Water that would raise typical residential bills by about $9 a month. Most members say they will vote against the proposal and urge the utility to focus on improving billing collections for paying customers before raising rates further. WLBT News
- ➤ Rankin County's jail program lets some inmates work and earn money, but many former trusties say Sheriff Bryan Bailey and his helper Kristi Shanks picked inmates with favoritism—giving extra work and rewards to friends. Former participants reported doing tasks like farm work and personal errands, and they worry the system is not fair. Mississippi Today
- ➤ On Saturday morning, Hinds County and Jackson leaders helped clean up Jackson's streets in the Virden Addition, Grove Park — Queens by picking up trash like mattresses, tires and pipes.
