  • A lottery player from Pearl won $1 million after buying a winning ticket at Gas & Grub in Florence. This win marks the first $1 million prize on the $30 Millionaire Maker scratch-off.  WLBT News
  • Mississippi Farm Bureau’s State Women’s Leadership Committee donated supplies to Ronald McDonald House in Jackson to support families with critically ill children—ten committee members from across the state teamed with local businesses to help create a play area for siblings.  WAPT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Salad Days Hydroponic Farm opened a new 68,000 sqft greenhouse at the Flora Industrial Park Tuesday with state and local leaders, and the facility will produce up to 3 million heads of lettuce annually using advanced hydroponic technology (including Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner Andy Gipson).  WAPT

  • On Mar. 18, community leaders, banks, and small business owners gathered in Jackson for a summit hosted by Mississippi Communities United for Prosperity to explore investment and economic growth in underserved neighborhoods + build stronger partnerships.  WAPT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jackson Public Schools teamed with FedEx Cares and Operation Warm to provide over 300 pre-kindergarten students (at Van Winkle Early Childhood Center) with new shoes and socks Wednesday to boost their confidence in class.  WAPT
  • Belhaven University restored its systems after a cybersecurity incident on March 6 and says no personal information was compromised. Online courses resumed today and most student services operate normally while remaining administrative systems will be fully restored by week’s end.  WAPT

  • Former Sen. Thad Cochran was remembered on Wednesday at the Two Mississippi Museums for his work bringing state funds to education, infrastructure, healthcare and hurricane recovery — his 45 years in Congress impacted many Mississippians.  WLBT News
  • The Legislature passed bills to remove the cannabis concentrate potency cap, extend caregiver card renewals, and add a right-to-try option for patients (a move to simplify access) and sent them to Gov. Reeves for review.  Mississippi Free Press
