- ➤ A pursuit on Highway 27 in Walthall County ended when the suspect’s 2026 Kia Soul collided with a deputy’s 2023 Dodge Charger—killing passenger Michael Ardizone and seriously injuring Sara Elizabeth Edmonds, who was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center as the Mississippi Highway Patrol investigated the chase. - ➤ Gluckstadt police stopped Dalin Marquise Stewart on Interstate 55 on March 12—when officers discovered he was wanted on a Jackson warrant for aggravated assault and was carrying a stolen firearm and marijuana—and he appeared in court with bond set at $100,000. WAPT

- ➤ State lawmakers passed a bill on Friday that gives state employees six weeks of paid leave if they are the primary caregiver—public school teachers are not covered. The bill now goes to the governor for approval. Mississippi Today
- ➤ JXN Water plans to ramp up shut offs for nonpayment by the end of this month using new software scheduled to go live March 24. Interim Manager Ted Henifin said 15,000 of its 60,000 accounts are behind and a 25 percent rate increase (raising typical bills by about $13) is planned to help meet a $148 million budget requirement.
