- ➤ Dr. John M. Perkins, a respected civil rights leader, pastor and author, died on Mar. 13 at his home near Jackson, surrounded by his wife and family. He is remembered for his work in voter registration and school desegregation in Mendenhall (married 74 years with eight children). WAPT
- ➤ Residents in Brandon voiced concerns about a proposed development in their neighborhood, saying they would not welcome the project in their backyard (they worry about its impact on local life). City officials are set to review the proposal soon. WLBT News
