  • Gov. Reeves said he will consider calling a special session on school choice and teacher pay if lawmakers do not reach an agreement over the next four weeks. He stressed that both measures remain key priorities to expand educational options and support teachers.  Mississippi Today
  • A Mississippi Senate bill cleared by a House committee could allow black bear hunting for the first time since 1932 if wildlife studies support a lottery-based tag system. The measure may include a governor’s tag auction to fund conservation + restoration, with the season likely starting in 2027-28.  Mississippi Free Press
