  • Solomon Ray, an AI gospel artist created by Topher Townsend from Philadelphia, has touched listeners with his hit 'Find Your Rest.' Townsend meditates on scripture & guides the song's creation; the track topped the Billboard Gospel Music Charts in 2025 and continues to inspire our community.  WAPT
  • Jackson State University’s Sonic Boom band is in a promotional video for the film 'Michael' about Michael Jackson filmed at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium today & 224 members perform 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough.' The movie will debut in theaters on April 24.  WLBT News

  • The Mississippi Insurance Department reported that damage claims from Winter Storm Fern have topped $107 million from over 12,000 filings, and officials expect the total to rise as more losses are documented.  Mississippi Today
  • Jan. 23-24 winter storms led to 12,000+ insurance claims and over $107 million in losses, Mississippi Insurance Department said. Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney and Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson noted homes, trees, and power lines suffered damage while most row crops were spared.  WAPT

  • Pearl Mayor Jake Windham announced that the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works signed off on a flood control plan for Pearl River—a key milestone after 45 years of local effort following the 1979 Easter Flood.  WLBT News
  • A local coalition celebrated the Army Corps' approval of a flood-control plan for Pearl River that creates a 1,200-acre lake in Hinds and Rankin counties to lower flood risk and spur development opportunities.
