Good morning, Jackson.

Nearly 115K Jackson residents lost power Sunday morning as utility crews work on restoring service in affected neighborhoods.

A winter storm caused plummeting temperatures and led to several JMAA flights to be canceled — travelers should check with airlines for updated schedules.

Gov. Reeves warned that conditions will worsen — temperatures remain below freezing as ice affects 37 counties and power outages impact up to 180,000 residents.

Emergency crews are clearing fallen trees and working to restore service while officials urge everyone to stay off icy roads.

Dr. Nathaniel Mann of Prisma Health advises Jackson residents to enjoy the outdoors safely amid cold weather by bundling up and moderating activity if they have heart or lung conditions, and warns that using alternative heaters can emit carbon monoxide (CO) and cause burns.
